Ice Capades; Kara and Olivier Style!

Kara and Olivier met through mutual friends while attending the University of Connecticut. When they met in March of their senior year, both were planning to return home after graduating (Rhode Island for Kara, Senegal for Olivier), but they decided to stay in Connecticut together. Shortly after meeting, Olivier made plans to return to Senegal for the summer. Knowing that he didn’t want to leave Kara behind, he invited her to join him. Three months after meeting Olivier, Kara found herself in Senegal being introduced to his family and friends.

It was on the couple’s second trip to Senegal three years later that Olivier proposed. Olivier took Kara and his little sister to visit his Grandmother and Aunts. Since Kara doesn’t speak French, she wasn’t really paying attention to what they were talking about. However, all of her sudden she heard his Aunt say the word, “fiancĂ©”. That immediately caught Kara’s attention and she wondered what they could be talking about. It was on the way home from his Grandmother’s house that Olivier pulled the car over by a cliff that overlooked the ocean. With his 10 year old sister recording on a camcorder, he proposed! Not only had Olivier surprised her with a proposal, but his parents planned an engagement party for the next day. It was definitely a vacation to remember!

After rain cancelled their fall foliage Engagement Session, the couple looked for a new idea. What could they do in winter, but without snow? Ice Skating! Although Olivier was a little nervous about having his first time on skates forever documented, he loves trying new things and was excited to brag to his friends back home that he could ice skate. haha

Their session went beautifully and their pictures came out amazing!!!

They will get married August 14, 2010 at the Alpine Country Club, and again on January 8, 2011 at the Cathédrale Notre Dame des Victoires, Senegal. Can't wait to photograph their big day!!! They were a fun and spontaneous couple and I'm sure the wedding's going to be a lot of fun!

Check out their slideshow!!!
