I met Carrie at the LaBella Bride Magazine Vermont Shoot, which will arriving on bookshelves everywhere in December, 2010! We had tremendous fun during that shoot and it was a pleasure to work with her.

Carrie MacMillan-Lane of Storied Events provides wedding planning services for Vermont weddings and New England destination weddings. She believes it takes a team of talented professionals to make an amazing wedding happen. Carrie refers to herself as the founder, the nurterer and creative juice behind Storied Events and has an uncanny knack for using organic materials to design her beautiful displays.

"Clients are the inspiration for each of our events ... no two events are ever alike." -Carrie MacMillan-Lane.

Storied Events has access to a range of unique, private homes and estates in New England. Carrie's services are also completely custom, which preserves each couple's individuality. Her goal is to create the ultimate experience in carefree wedding planning and provide you with whatever amount of assistance you so desire. By getting to know you she gives you to the tools and assistance to create your timeless memories.

Originally planning to attend medical school after college graduation, Carrie worked in restaurants to save for the high costs of enrollment. During one of her school breaks, Carrie started working at Castle Hill Inn and Resort in Newport Rhode Island as a server and shortly thereafter, she took on the roll of their Banquet Manager. Immersed in planning weddings, corporate and social events, Carrie fell in love with the beauty, details and overall joy she felt from assisting people with life cycle celebrations.

Carrie moved to East Hampton, New York in 1998 and continued to diversify her talent with experience in publishing, sales and marketing, extensive travel, tradeshows, product launches and fundraising. Feeling the need for inspiration and a little philanthropy after so much time in sales and marketing, Carrie moved on to manage events and administration for the East Hampton Historical Society.

Finally, in 2005 Carrie left New York and moved to Vermont with her then fiancĂ©. In 2006 Storied Events was launched shortly after the birth of their first daughter. After three successful years, Storied Events expanded and launched “Storied Locations”, a one-of-a-kind guide to wedding venues throughout the Northeast. It includes a blog, which is a home for event professionals around the country to showcase their talent and favorite wedding locations.

Her success is due to all the knowledge she gained throughout the many years of hard work and multifaceted experiences. Carrie believes that success comes from talent, loving what you do and the result of a professional ensemble created from amazing vendors all working toward one goal – an overjoyed client.

Favorite type of wedding: “Tented weddings, where you can create anything you desire and the only boundaries are your imagination.”

Fun facts about me: “I cry at least once during every wedding. The personal gratitude showed by my clients is sometimes overwhelming.”

Carrie built her own wedding venue inside her house. She actually created a “tented” event on the third floor of her home by gutting out the rafters, painting the floorboards and draping the entire space with fabric.

Alexandria and Daniel's Wedding

Last fall Alexandria, Daniel and I all headed out to the park for their engagement photographs that they used for both their guest book and also their save-the-date cards.

Alexandria and Daniel were married on July 4 at Castle Hill Inn & Resort in Newport, Rhode Island. The fireworks starting to fly way before this 4th of July for this couple. About two years ago Daniel went into Alexandria’s family restaurant, Angelo's in Cumberland, RI, for his favorite dish of chicken parmesan. As the best man's toast (Groom’s brother) stated, “Daniel claimed he was going to the restaurant for their chicken parm, but he was actually going back to the restaurant to see Alex!” It must be something in their sauce, because fireworks started to spark! After a couple of years Daniel proposed and the couple began planning their Newport wedding, which included a traditional Greek ceremony and music to honor the bride's Greek heritage.

Alexandria and Daniel's wedding photos also appeared in Southern New England Weddings 2010!

Lights, camera action! Mike Picard of Mike Picard Videography videos Alex as she prepares for her wedding day while Lindsay Garvin at Moss Hair Salon styles her hair and Jill Digiglio of Gel Options “beautifies” her makeup.

The bride's dress was a gorgeous form fitting strapless gown accented with a beautiful lace veil. She looked spectacular! She found her dress at Alexandra's Boutique in Fall River, MA and her bridal accessories were purchased at Simply Dainty located in Cranston, RI.

I got a chance to get some great shots while Alex’s mother helps her put on the finishing touches before they leave for the church and spend a quiet moment with each other before the celebrations begin.

So what about the groom you ask?
Well here he is...Daniel minutes from waiting down the isle for Alex.
Time for formals...My favorite part!

Chris my studio manager just happened to be spending her day off on the water and cruised by in time to take this picture during the reception!! Now that is kind of cool I must say!! I was super surprised on Monday when she handed me these images.
The bridal bouquet complemented the wedding colors of green and white with a handful of colorful orchids to add a color accent. Twigs Florist of Cranston, RI created the unique arrangements. Their flowers are always spectacular and they do more than just drop off the flowers on the day of the wedding. They stay on hand throughout the ceremony in case there is a "floral" emergency.

Southern New England Weddings did a FULL feature on
Alexandria and Daniel from their Castle Hill wedding!

Twigs showcased some pictures from Alex and Daniels wedding for their ad in Celebrations!
